Rosemary Water Promotes Hair Growth

A 2010 study was able to confirm that “rosemary oil brings about an additional improvement of local blood circulation and alleviates pain.”

You know that cooling, slightly tingly sensation whenever you apply rosemary oil to your skin? That’s carnosic acid, which helps promote healing of tissues. It brings blood to the area, which in turn helps with healing and rejuvenation.

That flood of blood to your scalp when you apply homemade rosemary water creates the perfect environment for faster hair growth. The extra blood provides nutrients your follicles need to function at their best.

In fact, a 2015 study found that rosemary is just as effective as using rogaine! That means it can help promote hair regrowth, and well as existing hair to grow faster and stronger.

Rosemary Hair Water Boosts Scalp Health

With all that extra blood flow to your follicles, your scalp health can thrive too! When applied topically, rosemary water helps revive your scalp and keep it healthy.

Rosemary is full of antioxidants, which helps to fight off free radicals and other pathogens that can sit on your scalp. This includes dandruff!

Not only is rosemary full of antioxidants; it’s also anti-inflammatory. A study conducted in 2020 found that the anti-inflammatory properties of rosemary can even help with neurological disorders!

If you have sensitive skin and/or your scalp could use some TLC, you need to add this rosemary water to your routine!

Rosemary Water Strengthens Hair and Prevents Thinning

With all the blood flow and nutrients being pumped back into your scalp, your hair’s thinning will stop almost in its tracks!

That’s why rosemary water for hair care is such a game-changer. It’s an amazing hack for hair loss.

Rosemary water creates the ideal environment for your hair to grow quickly and thrive while doing so. Any hair fallout should diminish or stop entirely, while the new hair growing back should be strong and healthy.

Rosemary Water Side Effects

Like anything else, rosemary spray for hair isn’t for everyone. There’s just a few things to keep in mind depending on your hair type.

Rosemary can slightly darken your hair over time if used regularly. But if that’s what you’re going for already, then you’re in luck!

The high number of antioxidants in rosemary are what’s responsible for darkening your hair over time. They revitalize your hair and remove any product buildup, which is great, but it can also remove any free radicals that lighten your hair as well.

As someone with dirty blonde hair, I’ve never noticed any change in my color because I only use this spray as one of my hair products once a month or so.

If you’re trying to lighten your hair or don’t want it to go any darker, I wouldn’t use this herbal hair treatment too regularly. You certainly won’t see a dramatic change overnight, but your hair might darken a shade or two if you use this hair rinse regularly over the course of two to three months.

That’s why I don’t recommend this rosemary hair rinse for color-treated hair, because it can throw off the hue. I’ve had readers tell me that their gray hair started to look brassy or reddish.Using a natural shampoo for color-treated hair can help though!

However, I personally think that the pros outweigh the cons depending on your situation! If you have extremely dry, damaged hair that’s falling out and needs a major overhaul, rosemary water for hair health will be a game changer!

Just pour the rosemary water over your entire scalp after shampooing and leave it on for a few minutes before lightly rinsing it out and applying conditioner. Sometimes I prefer to do this as a “once in a while” treatment instead of the daily scalp spray.

How Often Should I Put Rosemary Water in My Hair?

You can spray this concoction on your roots every day to enhance hair and promote growth.

Rosemary water can also provide light moisture to your hair, so you can apply it to your ends however you see fit! I personally like to apply it every other day, or on days I don’t wash my hair to help bring it back to life.

Can You Leave Homemade Rosemary Water in Your Hair?

Yes! Homemade rosemary water is meant to stay in your hair and not to be washed out. Your scalp will get all the good benefits of hair growth and scalp health while it dries.
