Louisville, home of the University of Louisville Cardinals, the Louisville Slugger, and after HomeSnacks’ list of the top ten best neighborhoods in Derby City for 2024 gets out, it will be known as the home of some pretty cool neighborhoods. Yes, you heard it here first, folks, but if you want to see the actual list of Louisville’s best neighborhoods, you’re going to have to take a look below.

To learn how we ranked Louisville’s best neighborhoods, First, we looked at the latest census for the median income and median home price for each one of Louisville’s 64 neighborhoods. We then gave each neighborhood a SnackAbility score based on things like safety, jobs, affordability, and amenities. We’re going to leave this right here, if you get to call one of Louisville’s top ten best neighborhoods home, you’re pretty lucky.

Methodology: How We Determined The Best Louisville, KY Neighborhoods In 2024

To rank the best neighborhoods in Louisville, we had to determine what criteria define “best” and then apply Saturday Night Science to it.

Using FBI crime, Census, and extrapolated BLS data, we arrived at the following set of criteria:

  • High incomes
  • Low unemployment rates
  • Low crime
  • High home prices
  • High population densities (A proxy for things to do)

We then ranked each neighborhood with scores from 1 to 64 in each category, where 1 was the best.

Next, we averaged the rankings for each neighborhood to create a best neighborhood index.

And finally, we crowned the neighborhood with the lowest best neighborhood index, the “Best City Neighborhood In Louisville.” We’re lookin’ at you, Tyler Park.
